What Is Art in this So called Post-Painting, Post-Post Modern Time? A Thousand Words

Arts discussion

Hello readers and lovers of the Arts!

Today I ponder the question proposed by someone with regard to the meaning of how as Artists, we perceive this so-called Post painting, Post-Post Modern time period. How, in other words (or forms for that matter) do we express artistically what that means to us? My curiosity usually leads to research. In it I found more elusive definitions than I’d hoped for.

Images Added: Updates on the #BassBoomProject

Uncategorized

Hello everyone!

As promised, I carved out a little time to add the images here as part of the  #BassBoomProject.

These are the completed images of how the entire piece looks. Since it is a three dimensional, box shaped piece, I include several images for better viewing. After the finishes were applied, its smooth black background turned out flawless! I used Matte Mod Podge for the final steps. Although it’s a favorite of mine, I do offer it for sale. If you are interested in this or any other piece, please contact me directly via email.

Please enjoy and take a look back at the story behind this very loved project. Without further ado, here is the entire #BassBoomProject:

The #BassBoomProject

In June 2014 over Father’s Day weekend I participated along other Artist Members of ConArtist Collective in the Paterson Art Walk.

All of us were given choice in the selection of pieces to show. Since the Paterson Art Factory is made up of many buildings and is an old mill converted into art studios, the square footage is huge…I mean, the dreamy kind of large any artist could wish for! If ever you have the opportunity, visiting the Art Factory will prove an adventure in itself.
The one piece I really wanted to stand out is a Subwoofer I’d painted on all four sides and the top. It’s been in the family for quite awhile and is still kicking out a mean bass! That little sound box was originally part of a gaming system my nephews and niece first owned and shared with my children whenever they got down to battle in digital mode.  The title and theme I used for promotional aspects is: “The #BassBoom Project.” I use the hashtag here as it can be found across many web platforms within social media.

Prominent Dreams: The Ones We Remember Can Be the Best

Uncategorized

Hello everyone!

Throughout most of my life, I have enjoyed creating art which stems from such things as: dreams, emotions and the dailies of life.

Dreams may not be the only subject in all my artwork. They are a common denominator, if you will-as written in my Artist’s Statement.   They just happen to be the most I’ve created into visual form. Documenting it here online as I have on paper or other surfaces is the main reason I started this blog and website. It’s meant to be a place where I share the process and finished products of my art and how I arrived at them becoming tactile forms. Spontaneous inspiration, life’s daily moments and the emotions which stem from them are among the subjects in the rest of my artistic accomplishments. I hope you’ll enjoy the journey as much as I have and join me here as these stories unfold from imagination to surface.

Today I will share how a momentary waking vision turns into visual art by memory. I learned a very long time ago, that if you jot down your dreams as soon as you wake, it helps to sort out what may be bringing us moments of joy, delight, anger, sadness, worries and so on. It’s also a truly wonderful way of creating one’s own journal of sorts, helping to resolve anything.

In the interest of sharing knowledge, I answer what has helped me gain what I needed to understand dreams or waking visions. How do we jot down dreams when many of the details dissipate before rising out of bed?  The easiest way I’ve learned is by keeping a notebook and writing instrument handy at bedside. As soon as you’re awoken, remind yourself there is something nearby onto which you can write it on. No need to get out of bed! The repetition of this self reminder becomes more than handy, as you realize your dreams become memorable, clearer visions. Not only that…it helps to gain control over what you can dream of; recall things you may have forgotten ; healing moments of distress and result in a better overall quality of life.

As the title here implies: Prominent Dreams: The Ones We Remember Can Be the Best!

Among some of my own favorites in art I’ve completed, are the ones where I’ve captured someone else’s idea, vision for a piece or even their dreams.  Those commissions are excellent reminders of how I test my strengths in realizing a visual which didn’t sprout from my own imagination.

If ever you’d like to have a visual reminder of something wonderful you dream up, Art is an excellent way to achieve it. Feel free to contact me directly with any inquiries to this regard or any other.

Until next time….dream pleasantly and Thank You all for visiting!
