The #BassBoomProject

Uncategorized

In June 2014 over Father’s Day weekend I participated along other Artist Members of ConArtist Collective in the Paterson Art Walk.

All of us were given choice in the selection of pieces to show. Since the Paterson Art Factory is made up of many buildings and is an old mill converted into art studios, the square footage is huge…I mean, the dreamy kind of large any artist could wish for! If ever you have the opportunity, visiting the Art Factory will prove an adventure in itself.
The one piece I really wanted to stand out is a Subwoofer I’d painted on all four sides and the top. It’s been in the family for quite awhile and is still kicking out a mean bass! That little sound box was originally part of a gaming system my nephews and niece first owned and shared with my children whenever they got down to battle in digital mode.  The title and theme I used for promotional aspects is: “The #BassBoom Project.” I use the hashtag here as it can be found across many web platforms within social media.

Managing An Artistic Challenge

Uncategorized

Recently, I was personally challenged in artistic capabilities by having preset limits on a themed exhibition. I rather enjoy having a theme to go by, whether for exhibition, juried competitions or other forms of participation. This particular event was named: “Decorate, Embellish, Adorn” and Curated by Artist Member, Aprajita Anand…an amazing Artist and super sweet individual herself!

The event was presented at ConArtist Gallery, of which I am a Member Artist since February 2014. Its requirements included:

  • specific size of 12″ x 12″
  • in black and white only
  • should reflect or express what you are passionate about

Seems easy enough, right? It was the exclusive use of Black and White for its color theme, which presented a challenge for me. Yes, they truly are colors!  At first I thought: “How hard can this be? After all, I LOVE to draw using black on white with almost any medium!” Then it hit me…I wanted to attempt the project in Acrylics, using my own style of drawing-without erasing. All in all, it was my own self-imposed challenge, since I’d never accomplished it in the Acrylic medium. Yet, I’m proud to have overcome the ‘chronic eraser syndrome’ very long ago. Turns out, I enjoyed every moment creating my piece, entitled “Rapture – Wrap Sure.” My reflection on what I am passionate about is simply LOVE. You see, I strongly believe in Love of all kinds and that with Love we can accomplish anything GOOD we desire. It is in fact (to me), the key to LIFE.

I do hope you enjoy the image of “Rapture – Wrap Sure.” Up until now, it continues to gain in popularity as one of my most viewed and enjoyed pieces of original artwork across all of my social media networks. The original is available for purchase by contacting me here, or in selected prints here.
